Our Areas of Expertise

Water Rescue – This involves the rescue of animals from various types of situations involving water. The most common type encountered is Stillwater, aka floodwater, and entry is normally made by boat or high-water vehicle. Swiftwater rescue involves water moving at more than 400cfs and involves specialized techniques and equipment to facilitate the rescue.

Structural Collapse – This involves the rescue of animals from buildings, houses, or other structures that may have collapsed or lost their structural integrity. This is a common occurrence after tornados, hurricanes, or earthquakes. Understanding structural engineering and the properties of collapse mitigation is key to ensuring a safe rescue from this dangerous situation.

Confined Space – This involves the rescue of animals from places such as wells, tanks, underground pipes, sewers, or other small spaces where access and movement are severely restricted.  Lack of available light, proper ventilation, and potential harmful gases or chemicals make this a challenging rescue aspect.

High/Vertical Angle – This involves the rescue of animals from places such as cliffs, ledges, or valleys where access cannot be easily granted. In situations like this, animals likely will have injuries that need medical treatment, and they will have to be packaged for extraction. In certain instances, insertion and extraction may be done by helicopter.

Ground Search And Rescue (GSAR) – This involves the rescue of animals from open areas that are easily and readily accessible by foot, ATV, or vehicle. Many instances are non-flooded, yet inaccessible, areas after a disaster has occurred. Searches often are street to street, and door to door. The advantage of this type of rescue is the easy access to the overall search area without the need for specialized equipment such as boats.

Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) – This involves the rescue of animals from an area that could be contaminated from either known or unknown substances. Use of a respirator or self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) is normally required, and there are formal procedures for the decontamination of the animals rescued from these areas.
